Does anyone have any advice on how to make a man sized sausage costume|?

i need to make a giant sausage costume, just the sausage, not like the fancy dress hotdog in bun i have seen in shops. it needs to cover the top of my head and have a hole for the face and look squishy!

p.s my current idea is to get a long length of spongy foam from a fabric shop, cover it in shiny sausage colour fabric, fold it over and then sew up the sides, the problem with this is the foam only comes in a maximum length of 2 ish metres and im 5,11 so once folded over the foam only covers down to my waist!Does anyone have any advice on how to make a man sized sausage costume|?
Don't forget you'll need to be able to walk, so you will have to look like a sausage with legs anyway - so use the 2 metre foam. Fold it lengthways (assuming your foam is wide enough to go round you)!

You'll need fairly thick foam to hold the shape, up to an inch thick probably. To taper the top end, cut a big zigzag across and stitch the points together (to get the shape right, practise the shape with wallpaper or something first)

To place the armholes and face hole, get someone to help you - lie down on the foam so your head is at the right height, then get your friend to mark how high to make the holes. Also, remember that the covering fabric will have to go inside the holes too, if you google ';armhole facings'; you will get the idea. If it's easier, you could probably paint the foam the colour you want with emulsion paint.

I'd suggest putting in a long zip or some velcro up the side so you can get in and out of the costume!

Have fun.........Does anyone have any advice on how to make a man sized sausage costume|?
